There are four possibilities:

 

1. There are already units of the type that are currently being recruited

 

2. The unit you want to recruit is not unlocked. Please check the university to unlock.

 

3. You do not have enough resources. You are still able to recruit by using gold.

 

4. The unit limit for the unit type is already reached. Upgrade your farm to allow more recuritments of the respective unit.
